Karen Butti
Karen’s textile practice is closely related to her architectural work.
Design ideas and narratives often emerge during the course of her relationships with the people and buildings she works with that do not fit neatly within an architectural commission, but can be expressed in textiles.
In her architectural work Karen’s enjoyment of making is inevitably vicarious, and the ability to work with her hands is important to her.
Karen exhibits with The Textile Studio.
Joining Thomas Ford & Partners in 2001, Karen became a Partner in 2018.
Specialising in projects to historic buildings, she has worked at many Grade 1 Listed buildings including several projects at AWN Pugin’s seminal house and church at Ramsgate.
Projects have spanned the centuries ranging from studies at the Archbishops Palace at Charing, to work for the Emery Walker Trust and the Carmelite Priory at Aylesford.
Karen serves on the DAC for Southwark Diocese and is Hon. Treasurer for ASCHB.
